Introducing Citizen Schools New Manager of Corporate and Civic Engagement, Kecia Doolittle!

Tell us a little about your experience prior to joining Citizen Schools: I spent a few years working on eclectic projects in the nonprofit space, including supporting grassroots social enterprise development in the Democratic Republic of Congo and managing a summer literacy intervention. Last year, I participated in a social sector leadership fellowship sponsored by New Sector Alliance, which placed me at a nonprofit tech startup building apps for low-income entrepreneurs.

What excites you most about becoming the new Corporate and Civic Engagement Manager for CSC?

I am excited about Citizen Schools and this role because I really enjoy meeting new people and building relationships with the goal of creating strong partnerships. Getting to use and develop those skills in the service of an organization that's doing amazing work is a dream come true. I look forward to being a part of Citizen Schools’ growth and evolution, and to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I'm also excited to work with the wonderful team here in California, and to get to know the rest of the Citizen Schools family better!

What brought you to the Bay Area?

While I’m originally from Washington State, I was drawn to the Bay Area after college because it's a huge hub for social innovation. After exploring different facets of the nonprofit sector over the last few years, I knew I wanted to work at an innovative education nonprofit, where I would have the opportunity to build partnerships with corporations and individuals.

After looking through our Curriculum Library, which apprenticeship would your middle school self loved to have taken?
