Citizens Gather for New York's Most Inspiring Evening

Students from Isaac Newton Middle School ready to wow the crowd. The fourth annual Calling All Citizens benefit was a huge success! On Monday, May 20, over 550 guests joined us to celebrate both the accomplishments of our students and the significant contributions of our partners, staff, and supporters.

Our students left a lasting impression on our guests with presentations of their apprenticeship work products. Their volunteer Citizen Teachers beamed with pride while students awed everyone with their detailed knowledge of rocket ship design, business entrepreneurship, financial planning, advertisement production, and stock portfolio management.

We were honored to host Chairman and CEO of AOL, Tim Armstrong, who shared his dedication to and support for Citizen Schools in his keynote speech. "It just works!" he exclaimed about the program. Our alumna Jadine Yarde, stole the show with her inspiring, poignant reflections on the transformative impact Citizen Schools has had on her life.

At Citizen Schools, we work to change the life trajectories of our students. The annual benefit helps us to expand our programming, and we plan to serve even more students next year. We have come so far over the past five years with your generous support, and we look forward to many more successful years to come!

Here are a few of our favorite moments from the evening...
