I am extremely excited to be coming full circle into leading the organization that has meant so much to me and my development as a leader, but more importantly, has given me the opportunity to make an impact on the young people we’ve been privileged to work with.
— Nadia K. Selby, CEO, Citizen Schools

As a first-generation immigrant student attending New York City public schools, Nadia saw first-hand the disparities in opportunity afforded to students based on their zip code, yet how impactful the mentorship of a single educator could be. Nadia and Citizen Schools are committed to ensuring all students have access to an education that is meaningful and engaging.

Nadia will be leading Citizen Schools new integrated approach to experience-based learning, bringing together students, educators, school leaders, and community members to transform classrooms into vibrant spaces of hands-on, relevant learning.

Prior to becoming CEO, Nadia served as Citizen Schools Vice President of Impact, helping to design the organization’s current programs and inform its strategic direction. Beginning her career as an AmeriCorps Teaching Fellow in the classrooms of South Boston, Nadia has held leadership positions at nearly every level of the organization for the past 16 years.
