Chris Gabrieli of the National Center on Time and Learning and Luis Ubinas of the Ford Foundation co-wrote an opinion piece arguing for more learning time for students across the country. 

The Edwards Middle School is featured as an example of the success expanded learning time can bring to schools. The school began its expanded learning time pilot program in partnership with Citizen Schools in 2006 and has since transformed from one of the lowest performing schools in Boston, to one of the highest performing schools in the state by increasing instructional hours by 30 percent.
