Matching Funds Sought for $3M STEM Award

Last month, Citizen Schools announced that we had been recognized by the Department of Education as one of the top-rated applicants for the Investing in Innovation (i3) Competition. The grant of up to $3 million would enable Citizen Schools to provide dramatically more apprenticeships in science, technology, engineering in math--engaging professional programmers, biologists, pharmaceutical scientists, and rocket-builders to make their fields come to life for middle school students who wouldn't otherwise experience them in real life.

It's not a done deal yet, though. The grant is contingent on matching investments from the private sector of 15% of the total amount. We're on track to make that match, and we're still actively working with partners to get there by the end of the year.

Citizen Schools, together with the schools and districts we partner with, the thousands of volunteers and AmeriCorps members who serve there, and the students and families who are discovering new dreams every afternoon, join in thanking the funders we're working with to investing in their future. You are the embodiment of high-impact public-private partnerships. Thank you for your support!
