Citizen School's mission is amplified by the national service work of AmeriCorps VISTAs. Serving full-time for a one-year term, AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers build capacity by strengthening, expanding, and increasing the reach of anti-poverty initiatives via extended learning time opportunities for under-represented, underserved, and/or low-income youth. Through their efforts, the capabilities of partner organizations, and their surrounding communities’ support, they are able to address the community's needs in a sustainable way.
We are fortunate to have several VISTAs currently serving in various cities across the nation with Citizen Schools and US2020 City Network partners. They are an integral part of US2020's STEM mentoring work and build capacity for their host and sites by: recruiting volunteers, organizing fundraisers, developing community partnerships, and collecting data among other duties.
Throughout their service year, our AmeriCorps VISTA's have the opportunity to take part in many different training and professional development activities, including professional skill building workshops on topics like project management, event planning, and any other topics that may be of interest.
Citizen Schools, US2020, and our partners are seeking talented individuals who are committed to service, impacting issues of poverty, movement building, and STEM!
