Saratoga resident Bob France was among the President’s Volunteer Service Awards recipients

Saratoga resident Bob France was among the President’s Volunteer Service Awards recipients, winning the silver award along with 83 others across the country.

France was recognized for his work as a citizen teacher with the national nonprofit Citizen Schools, which requires him to spend hours each week sharing his expertise in his field with middle school students in low-income communities.

Volunteer wins award for education efforts

Corey Cronin of Novato has received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for work as a “citizen teacher” with the national nonprofit Citizen Schools.

The group partners with middle schools to provide academic support to children in low-income communities, in conjunction with AmeriCorps educators and the volunteer teachers.

Cronin was a silver award honoree, which recognizes volunteers who have taught three of the past four semesters. Across the country, 83 volunteers were recognized in this category.

I graduated from Northeastern majoring in Business Administration and Marketing, with minors in International Affairs and Social Entrepreneurship. While at Northeastern I worked for a year and a half at 3 different internships, my favorite one being at Pine St Inn, which is the biggest center for homeless resources in New England, where I worked in Workforce development.
