Coming up…
Our spring semester is off to a rollicking start! Sixth grade apprentices are hard at work polishing up their public speaking and leadership skills through our intensive SpeakUp! curriculum while seventh and eighth grade students engage in a month long mentorship training course where they'll learn both why and how to prepare for college.
We look forward to celebrating student success and our community at our upcoming events!
Looking back…
In December 2007, Citizen Schools apprentices WOW!ed families and special guests for three nights of WOW! performances – Environmental Action, Arts Alive, Business & Tech.
• If you're visiting our school, be sure to check out the beautiful mural created by the Public Art apprenticeship in partnership with Umlauf Sculpture Garden that now hangs in the school courtyard.
• Apprentices in the Rollercoaster Design apprenticeship explored physics and theme parks to create a scale model of the scariest rollercoaster ever built – The Ride of Death!
• Apprentices in the Creative Carpentry apprenticeship visited Habitat for Humanity's Restore and worked with local artist Shaun Wilkerson to create a spectacular sunburst mirror made entirely of recycled materials. You'll say "WOW!" when you see it hanging in the school library.

At Bedichek and throughout Austin, Citizen Schools students are making their presence known through their hard work, dedication, and love of learning. Citizen Schools students are proud of their academic achievement and they're making their community a better place with their WOW!s. Learn how you can share what you know and love as a volunteer Citizen Teacher—apprenticeships begin Tuesday, February 26.
