Dear apprentices, families and Citizen Teachers:

Leadership, courage, perseverance, respect, joy, teamwork, and focus- this is what it takes to be a part of our team at Eastway Middle School. Each day we strive toward excellence - to be the best that we can be and to inspire our students to do the same. It does not come easily. In fact, we work hard every day. But our philosophy is that through hard work and diligence we can overcome any odds against us and accomplish our goals.

Our students dream big. From aspirations of becoming a forensic scientist to becoming the first in the family to graduate college, no dream is too small or too lofty for our students. We coach students to put their dreams into realistic, attainable goals that over time and with continued effort will help them to achieve success. With our 12 apprenticeships and a phenomenal 8th Grade Academy program, students are exposed to numerous career fields; learn about high school selection in Charlotte, and visit colleges and universities to begin planning for their future academic and career success.

This year has been an amazing year in many ways. We are the proud home of a 2007 Jack Kent Cook Young Scholars Award Recipient and a Student Ambassador who traveled to South Africa on a service trip with Samaritan's Feet. Thank you to students, families, volunteers, and Eastway staff for your unwavering support of Citizen Schools. Through you we will continue to accomplish great things.
