Teach What you Know
As a volunteer Citizen Teacher you will spend one afternoon a week for three months teaching your passion to a group of middle-school students at an underperforming school. During this time you will teach students new skills, reinforce the value of education and help them make connections to college and careers.
In Their Own Words
“I learned a lot about college and high school. I can’t wait to go to high school, I am ready for it.” – Middle School Student
“This was an incredible experience and I was thrilled to be a small part of the tremendous work that Citizen Schools is doing.” – Eric, Citizen Teacher
Together We Make an Impact
Citizen Schools works together with businesses, universities and community organizations to bring volunteers into the lives of students. We’re proud to work with Google, AOL, Alliance Bernstein and our other partners to bring exciting subjects like personal finance, technology, and communications to students in New York City.
If your company or organization wants to partner with Citizen Schools please contact Danielle Sharon.
10 Weeks → 1 Afternoon a Week → 90 Minutes an Afternoon
Citizen Schools apprenticeships run for three months twice a year, once in the Fall semester and once in the Spring semester. View an outline of the apprenticeship process.
In New York we offer our program in New York City.
