The Brooklyn School for Global Studies, a 6-12 grade learning community, is a New Visions for Public School that is committed to providing each student with a solid and purposeful education embedded in a standards-based environment. Their theme-based curriculum seeks to make connections between all courses of study, the individual student and the real world. They firmly believe that all children can learn. As such, every member of their community seeks to enhance their instructional practice, create meaningful learning experiences for their students, and foster an excitement for learning that endures throughout their lives. Their curriculum is designed to encourage students to take ownership of their learning and growth, and to fulfill their school's mission which is "Understanding Ourselves, the World and How to Make Change." Lisa Gibbs, is a dynamic and entrepreneurial leader who wants to expand life prospects for her students. Has been at the school for 5-7 yrs, first as an educator, then as the assistant principal, and now as the principal. The environment in the school supports a high standard of student achievement. |
