Program Schedule:

Citizen Schools Newark at the Ivy Hill Elementary School strives to serve as an academic and social resource for the bright, talented 5th and 6th grade students of Newark.  Students who are willing to work hard, want to learn how to work smart, and are looking to have fun will thrive as members of the Citizen Schools Newark Learning Community.

It is our firmly held belief that when students are provided the proper resources and support, they will achieve great things for themselves, their families, and their communities.  Citizen Schools Newark provides trained, dedicated educators to serve as resources to Ivy Hill's best and brightest.  The Team Leaders at Citizen Schools are dedicated to learning, achievement, and growth, and are looking forward to engaging students in our various program elements, which you can learn much more about on our organization's main web site, www.citizenschools.org.

From AIM Time to Apprenticeships, we will engage children and help them take ownership of their learning, their school, and their city.  Not only will students receive academic assistance, they will also be given the opportunity to serve their communities and give back both locally and internationally.  Through fund raisers, community service, as well as a new and exciting Service Learning curriculum, students will learn the value of giving to others the most valuable thing they can ever give – their time.

If you would like to join us in our mission to create the conditions for student empowerment, I would encourage you to visit www.citizenschools.org/volunteer.  There, you can find out more about our innovative Apprenticeship Program, where the talent and resources of the greater Newark community can be mobilized for the benefit of the city's youth.  In less than 2 hours a week, you can share your talents, passions, and skills with our students.  Love knitting?  So will our students – if you come and share that love with them!  Are you excited to show youth not just what you do for a living, but how you do it?  The commitment is small, but the impact is immeasurable; please sign up and serve Newark today!

On behalf of the supremely talented students and staff of Citizen Schools Newark, I would like to thank you for your interest in our efforts to help youth change their own lives and the lives of others.
