WHAT'S HAPPENING?
The Citizen Schools state appropriation was cut in half in the House FY2010 Budget and has now been zeroed out completely in the first version of the Senate budget. This money is vitally needed to sustain Citizen Schools' operations in your community.
Next week, debate will begin on the Senate budget. Before the Massachusetts Senate submits its final budget we ask you to please help us advocate for the Senate's support for funding. Citizen Schools matches every dollar from the State with private donations at a rate of more than 4:1 and our state line item is essential to our ability to continue to serve in all our communities.
WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?
Before the budget is finalized, Massachusetts Senators need to hear from you that funding for quality programs like Citizen Schools is too important to cut. We will be submitting a formal letter to Senate President Murray on Monday of next week and want to include a list of supporters. Please fill our our petition!
