Team Leaders forge bonds. Sometimes the connection comes from a shared passion like music or sports. For Yolanda, it was Legos. When one boy's behavioral challenges were disrupting the class, she discovered that playing with the building blocks helped calm him. In helping this child, Yolanda realized something about herself. She says, “Working with him made me realize I really wanted to work with kids with special needs.” Currently enrolled in a community college, Yolanda is hoping to transfer to a four-year college and major in secondary education. She’s serving as a Team Leader in her former middle school, a short walk from her house.
