At age 40, John is pursuing a new career as a teacher–a major switch from his past job as a stockbroker. He’s planning to get his Master’s degree in education, and then teach history. His inspiration? His mother-in-law, a veteran teacher. “Working as a Team Leader has been very, very rewarding,” John says. “It gave me confidence that I could be a good teacher and enjoy it as well. I have always had fun interacting with kids, but our rapport developed more quickly than I anticipated. Honesty and humor were key. I still have a way to go, but the basics of a good teacher are in me.”
