Team Leaders are role models, advisers, and cheerleaders. Their guidance wields enormous potential. In Doug’s words, “Be prepared to make an impact. You’ll be challenged. It’s not a camp. It’s a responsibility. You have the power to put these kids in a different place.” In turn, Team Leaders take inspiration from their students, many of whom face significant challenges. Helping a child discover a new interest, master a skill, overcome a difficulty…it’s transformative. Doug says he always knew he wanted to work with kids. After all, just about everyone in his family is a teacher. His other great passion: music. A talented guitarist, he performs and tours with his funk band, SuperHoney.
