Lauren Abramson was a cherished member of the Citizen Schools community, having served as a Team Leader at Kennedy Middle School for the past three years. In this role, Lauren served as a teacher and role model to over 250 students during her service with Citizen Schools California. She taught and led the same team of students from 6th through 8th grade, developing a significant rapport and mentorship role with this group of students. To honor her memory and her passionate dedication to teaching middle school students, Lauren’s family has established the Lauran Abramson Memorial Fund.
This Fund will advance Citizen Schools’ ability to achieve its vision to close the opportunity and achievement gap, ensuring all children graduate high school, ready to succeed in college and career.
The Lauren Abramson Memorial Fund can directly support a team of students at Kennedy Middle School through Citizen Schools’ Sponsor-a-Team Program. This program connects donors to a specific team of students at Kennedy and includes regular communications regarding the team’s activities throughout the year. Team Sponsors are recognized by name in Citizen Schools communications and collateral. Additionally, Citizen Schools California would like to create a staff award within the California Citizen Schools’ community. The Lauren Abramson Staff Award will be earned by an individual who demonstrates outstanding perseverance, creativity, and relentless dedication to the academic and social-emotional growth of his/her students to honor the memory and work of Lauren.
