In the fall of 2005, Citizen Schools launched its first Texas campus at Grady Middle School in Houston, enrolling 79 students and maintaining an average daily attendance rate of 90%. A year later, we added another school in Houston and expanded to Austin. Today, we're growing Texas-style! By 2010, we plan to operate a network of 10-12 sites throughout the state, bringing hundreds of citizens into public schools and improving the academic trajectories of Texas youth.
There are many ways for you or your organization to support our mission of educating youth and strengthening communities. Please contact our Austin or Houston State Office to learn more about career, volunteer, and giving opportunities.
