After-school educators are by nature part-time jobs. Working at another organization in the morning creates full-time employment for those committed to out-of-school time education. Citizen Schools Teaching Fellows spend the first 3 to 4 hours of their day on the staff of a community-based organization or local business. This work builds skills and on-the-job experience, strengthens the relationship between the school and the community, and often feeds directly into afternoon campus commitments. A Fellow working with a cultural institution might prepare a lesson that Citizen Schools apprentices can use on field trips. Fellows might develop a curriculum for employees of the partner organization to use when volunteering to lead an apprenticeship. 

Internal partnerships: Fellows work within our Citizen Schools State Offices or our Boston headquarters, enabling them to get first-hand experience working in a national non-profit organization. Additionally, some Fellows, known as "full-time Fellows," spend their mornings at their middle school's campus. They work intensively with their after-school Campus Director to strengthen the quality of the Citizen Schools program at their school.

External partnerships: Morning is spent at museums, schools, educational, civic, and environmental organizations. Fellows lead interactive educational activities, organize and support educational field trips, conduct community outreach, act as trainers, and help to develop programs and curricula, with a focus on bringing their cities' resources to urban children and their families.

Full-time Campus partnerships: Morning is spent supporting the management, programming, and logistics of the Citizen Schools campus. Fellows spend time at the host schools developing relationships with parents and teachers and building connections between the school and the after-school program.
