Citizen Schools
California's second annual A WOW!
Affair brought together students, volunteers, and community members from across
California to
see and hear first-hand what apprentices have been working on and how Citizen
Schools has impacted their lives. Some
of the apprenticeships were aviation with an actual flight simulator, robotics
with demonstrations of robots the students built and programmed, and docent tours of
Google.

During the semester students from Campbell, Kennedy, and MIT
participated in law apprenticeships.
The culmination of their efforts was a regional Mock Trial at the
Redwood City Courthouse. For more
information about this event, please read the San Francisco Daily Journal article.
At the end of each semester, campuses present their
apprenticeships in a campus-wide WOW!
Some of the highlights from last semester:
- Apprentices catered the Ben Franklin campus WOW!, preparing
egg rolls, chicken wings, brownies, and even flan.
- The Legal Hustle Apprentices, who learned about positive
rapping and ways to "make it" in the music industry, performed an original rap.
- Kennedy's campus WOW! had an amazing slideshow and gave
students the opportunity to share their experiences during their
apprenticeships.
- Students in the 8GA program at MIT presented their original
mural that they painted during the semester.
- Apprentices at Campbell
learned about the art of Capoeira and showcased their martial arts skills to
songs performed by their Citizen Teacher.
- Monroe's
campus WOW! highlighted their 8GA program by having a VIP couch on stage,
reserved for 8GA only!
