Over the past month our students practiced their public speaking skills, culminating in a "Speak Up!" presentation and debate tournament. This week, spring apprenticeships have launched! Our students are prepping for mock trials, learning cell biology and computer programming, building a playground, and much more…
Come and See Our Program In Action!
You are invited to visit our program on Wednesday, March 12th from 3:30-5:00 pm at Ben Franklin in Daly City or Tuesday, April 29th at the McKinley Institute of Technology in Redwood City. Whether you are an educator, a philanthropist, someone who as thought about teaching an apprenticeship, or a supporter of Citizen Schools that hasn’t visited one of our campuses in a while…we’d love to have you join us for a campus visit. The afternoon will include a tour of the campus, visiting our academic and apprenticeship programs, and a conversation with some of our students, the head of Citizen Schools California, the Principal of Ben Franklin, a Citizen Teacher volunteer and member of the California Council. To learn more or to RSVP by March 10th for the Daly City visit please contact Sarah Iles at 650.363.2720.

Volunteers of the Month: Sophia Adkison and Peter Stosich from Goldman Sachs
Last semester students from Ben Franklin in Daly City traveled to Goldman Sachs in downtown San Francisco to participate in the
"Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" apprenticeship. Goldman Sachs employees Sophia Adkison and Peter Stosich taught the students
how to be financial planners through budgeting money, client communication, and making smart investment choices. For the final
WOW! presentation, students presented to professional financial advisors at Goldman Sachs, where they assessed financial scenarios,
gave advice, and even handed out their own business cards! This semester, Sophia and Peter have engaged three more Goldman
Sachs colleagues and will be teaching our students from Thomas R. Pollicita. Thank you Sophia and Peter!
Donor Spotlight: Silicon Valley Community Foundation
Silicon Valley Community Foundation has long advocated for, and invested in, the children, youth and families in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. We are grateful for their recently renewed support of Citizen Schools California, as well as for their advice and leadership as we strengthen and expand our programs and purpose. Their partnership has been invaluable, and we applaud their dedication to supporting and inspiring innovative change!
Save The Date!
