Program Schedule: Monday - Thursday: 1:00 - 5:00 pm
Dear apprentices, families and Citizen Teachers:
Citizen Schools at the McCormack has officially launched for the fall of 2007. We have an amazing group of students, staff, teachers and volunteers who spend Monday through Thursday together focusing on student achievement. Every week, students have an opportunity to foster personal and academic success through the following:
- Students in Citizen Schools spend 70 minutes every day working on homework and practicing organizational skills which will help them achieve in their classes.
- Twice a week, students participate in exciting hands-on learning experiences called apprenticeships in which they learn real-life skills such as architecture, law, cooking, photography and more (see the list on the right). Apprenticeships are taught by community volunteers and Citizen Schools staff.
- Students spend much of their time on campus with their team. Student teams are like a home base for students; a place where they can feel comfortable and known develop social and team-work skills.
If you are interested in enrolling your child in our program, learning more about how you can volunteer with or join Citizen Schools' staff please feel free to stop by our office at the Edison or call me. I look forward to seeing you!
